Seoul’s five grand palaces and Jongmyo Shrine don’t share a closing day — that is the most common way visitors get caught out. Here is today’s picture from the official listings.
| Place | Closed | Today |
|---|---|---|
If the regular closing day is a public holiday, these sites usually open and close on the next business day instead.
Admission fees are low, and visitors wearing hanbok have been admitted free. The Korea Heritage Service is revising palace admission fees from January 2027, and free days (for example during Chuseok or festivals, or “Culture Day” Wednesdays) are announced separately — check the Korea Heritage Service royal palaces site before you go. Changdeokgung’s Secret Garden (Huwon) needs a separate guided-tour ticket.
